Your privacy matters. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

1. Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly to us:

  • Registered accounts: Email address, password (hashed), first name, last name.
  • Anonymous identities: Display name (optional) and a management token.
  • Prayer requests: Title, description, tags, and visibility preference (public/private).
  • Prayer activity: Records of prayers you have made for requests.
  • Technical data: IP address, browser user agent (for security and abuse prevention).

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Provide and maintain the Service
  • Authenticate and manage your account or anonymous identity
  • Display prayer requests and prayer activity
  • Send verification emails (registered accounts only)
  • Prevent abuse, spam, and security threats
  • Improve the Service (aggregated, anonymized analytics)

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

3. Public vs. Private Content

When you submit a prayer request, you choose whether it is public or private:

  • Public requests are visible to all visitors and may appear in search results, RSS feeds, and sitemaps.
  • Private requests are only visible to you (via your account or management token) and to administrators.

Your display name (or "Anonymous") is shown with public requests. Your email address is never displayed publicly.

4. Data Retention

  • Registered account data is retained while your account is active.
  • Anonymous identities and their tokens expire after a period of inactivity (typically 90 days).
  • Prayer requests and prayer activity are retained indefinitely unless you delete them.
  • IP addresses and user agents are retained for up to 30 days for security purposes.

You can delete your prayer requests at any time. Registered users can delete their account, which removes all associated personal data.

5. Cookies and Local Storage

We use cookies to maintain your session (authentication tokens). We do not use third-party tracking cookies, analytics cookies, or advertising cookies.

A pw-theme key in localStorage stores your light/dark mode preference locally in your browser.

6. Third-Party Services

The Service uses the following third-party services:

  • Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com / fonts.gstatic.com) for font delivery. This request may include your IP address.
  • Google Analytics (googletagmanager.com) for aggregated, anonymized usage statistics. Google Analytics uses cookies to analyze how visitors use the site. You can opt out via the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

No advertising or remarketing services are used. No data is sold to third parties.

7. Security

We implement reasonable security measures including HTTPS enforcement, secure cookies (HttpOnly, SameSite), Content Security Policy, and password hashing (bcrypt/argon2). However, no internet transmission is 100% secure.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to:

  • Access your personal data
  • Rectify inaccurate data
  • Erase your data (delete account/requests)
  • Restrict or object to processing
  • Data portability

To exercise these rights, use the account management features in the Service or contact us.

9. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the new policy on this page with an updated effective date.
